Choir Frequently Asked Questions:
Who is a typical member of the choir?
This choir is not an exercise in performance but an opportunity to worship. We are looking for anyone who is passionate about worshiping Jesus. If you have been in a choir before, great! We would love to have you! If you haven't, great! We would love to have you! So long as you are willing to pour out praise for our Savior and lead our body in worshiping Him, we definitely want you to sing!
Can students join?
Students in high school are welcome join; middle school and below will have to wait.
When are the rehearsals?
Rehearsal details are to be determined. You will be contacted with that information.
There are two mandatory rehearsals:
Saturday, April 8 from 7:00pm-9:30pm (after the 5:00pm service)
Saturday, April 15 from 12:00pm-4:00pm.
For the 8th, dinner from Jimmy John's will be provided. Let us know if you need a gluten-free option. For the 15th, early dinner will be provided from a location TBD. The rehearsal on the 15th will start with just the choir and then be joined by the whole worship team. Note: we will not have time during these two rehearsals to break down each part on each song. You MUST be prepared and know your parts as much as possible by the 8th. Listen, listen, listen; practice; practice; practice. We don't expect perfection, but do expect you to prepare and give this your best.
An optional practice will be on Sunday, April 2 at 12:30pm, following the 11:00am service. Think of this one as more of a workshop than a formal rehearsal. If you have listened to the parts, and you have a question about a specific section, come to the optional practice, and I will go over the parts as many times as you would like.
Will you assign parts?
We don't assign parts, but that you listen to each song and choose the part you are most comfortable with. If that means you pick Melody for every song, that's ok. If that means you pick Melody for two songs, Harmony 1 for two songs, and Harmony 2 for the last song, that's ok, too. All we ask is that you practice whichever parts you choose so that you are ready to go.
Where can I get the audio tracks?
Audio tracks are available on CDs, which you can pick up at the church during services or office hours. They will be left at the front desk in the office area at each campus.
Audio tracks are also available online via Planning Center Online. If you have no idea what those words mean, send Jordan Wiley an email or text to request access. The mobile app isn't the most user friendly, but it is sufficient.
So this all sounds great. Now what?
SIGN UP! (use the form above)
Remember, the most important aspect to your involvement is to PRAY! Be praying for Pastor Jeff as he prepares his message. Be praying for the hundreds of people who don't know Jesus who will be visiting Harvest Bible Chapel Denver for the first time that weekend. Be praying for your own heart, allowing the Holy Spirit to direct you as He wills, repenting as sin is brought to light and rejoicing at the great work He has done.
